Periodic: Dev Log 7

Welcome back to this weeks Periodic Dev Log! This week I have some good news, read below for more info.

TL:DR - Got The Library to a completely playable state!

Below is the full story:

Update - This is going to be a short post, but I thought I'd get something out since work and things around the house have been busy. I finally got The Library level to a playable state. It took long enough, but I can finally move forward with the game!

This has been a very good learning process, and I have some tips that I think will help moving forward. The first one is to get the size of the sprites right from the start, as this will help with not needing to redo things later on. Next is if you have block tiles, it really sucks having to go through and randomly put sprites everywhere... That's the big reason this level took so long to get done. It looks cool, but man does it suck. And finally, make a tile palette with all of the tiles you're going to use from the start, since you can just spend the time spriting the level and not worrying about it too much.

What's Next - I'm planning on getting the first Noble Gas stage started so I can finally get two stages in, possibly get the GUI art updated so I have more than just the green background, get the save system designed (not implemented), and fix any minor issues that are still in The Library stage.

Catch ya next time!
