Mid-Year Update!

Hey All!

Time for a mid-2021 update! As I write this, I just got back from a work trip that felt like a vacation. With that out of the way, it's time to get on track with consistency. Due to things being so busy at work, I have yet to hammer some important things with Periodic out, but ideas have been cropping up, and I think I've found the right headspace to sink into it again.

Plans for Periodic that I'm thinking for the next couple months:

  1. Refresh my memory of the code
  2. Situate the code that is portable into a Git submodule for different subsystems
    • For those who don't know what this is, it's basically a git repo within a git repo
  3. Continue work on the AI controllers
  4. Revamp some of the GUI
  5. Get weapons and weapon management in
  6. Dialogue system
  7. Get something much more playable and "demo-able" good to go

Moving on from Periodic, I've been playing around with ideas for other systems that are going to be in the game, but some of those are lower priority at the moment.

Next thing I want to give an update on is the new computer. It's been great, and it's up there as one of the best things that I've done this year. It's been working great, staying cool, and some of the game I've been playing have been so much more enjoyable being able to play them at high framerates.

I'm really hoping to nail down some of the goals that I set for myself this year, and I think I'm on track to do so. Some things have been a little hectic, but I'd much rather set my goals high, accomplishing more in the approach than setting low goals and not making it as far.

I think that's about all I have this go around. The start on early mornings is going to come tomorrow (as of writing this) to get some stuff done. Until the next time.
